Agreement between Timor-Leste and the European Union, 9

The Prime Minister presided over the signature of an Agreement
between Timor-Leste and the European Union, of 18 millions euros
value.
During the ceremony, a message from the European Commission President,
José Manuel Durão Barroso, and from the European
Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Relief, Louis Michel,
was delivered. Both expressed "the full support and solidarity"
from the European Union to Timor-Leste and also praised "the
tremendous achievements of the Government of Timor-Leste in this
nation-building endeavor".
The Head of Department for the Pacific Region, in Bruxeles, Valariano
Diaz, had the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister in order
to be briefed on the current situation in Timor-Leste and next
steps to return to normality.
