Prime Minister met the President of the Republic at the Palácio
das Cinzas, 13 June 2006
Today, June 13th, the prime minister, Mari Alkatiri, went to
the Presidency Office to meet the President of the Republic.
On this meeting, the prime minister's request to the Malaysian
delegation, on 250 police force to Timor-Leste, was discussed
and got the President agreement.
The prime minister had the opportunity to explain some changes
on the National Budget the Government will do, namely those with
economic impact on the population and their revenues: revision
of the fiscal and investment system, reduce of the power tariffs,
creation of funds for solidarity, community development and rural
credit, subsidies and wages complements to the public servants
(until the carriers and promotions law for the public administration
be in place), among others.
Also the Penal Code was subject of the attention of both President
and prime minister. It was agreed that the Government will ask
for an extension of the legislative authorization to change the
proposal of the Penal Code.
The President gave to the prime minister the follow up on his
contacts with the armed groups and the so called "petitioners".
